1931
The Father of Capri-Sun
In 1931, Rudolf Wild founded a company in Heidelberg specialising in ingredients for foodstuff, subsequently known as Wild Flavours. His philosophy: only natural food products and no chemicals!
1969
The Revolution Begins
Capri-Sun is born under its former name Capri-Sonne! For the very first time, a beverage in a stand-up pouch is sold in Germany. The first flavours are lemon and orange.
1973
A New Era
Dr. Hans-Peter Wild joins the family business. Capri-Sun becomes popular and a 10-pouch plastic carrier pack is launched.
1979
Capri-Sun has a new ambassador
The legendary TV spots with the King of Boxing, Muhammad Ali, are the cornerstone of Capri-Sun’s new international success.
1980
Now in Africa and Asia: sunshine in a pouch
Since 1980, Capri-Sun is also available in Nigeria with the distinctive straw-pouch design.
1982
US Success
Capri-Sun wins best new product launch in the United States. The drink pouch is awarded the coveted US medal for Packaging of the Year.
1992
Market leader in Europe
Capri-Sun becomes the market leader in Europe.
1994
Market leaders in the USA
Just two years after ascending to market leadership in Europe, Capri-Sun, with its flexible packaging and delicious fruity content, becomes the market leader in the USA.
2003
The German Secretary of the Environment declares…
Capri-Sun packaging to be ‘ecologically advantageous’. Our pouch remains deposit-free.
2004
A world record
In 2004, we broke our own world record. For the first time, over five billion drink pouches are sold worldwide.
2007
The launch of the reclosable pouch
Capri-Sun has grown up and introduces the flavours Orange Peach and Wild Berries to the European market.
2010
Into outer space
The European Space Agency (ESA) enhances the Capri-Sun pouch for the use of the astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).
2016
Just fruit juice and water – Nothing else!
Our all new product range: Pure Fruit & Water. Fruit juice and water, nothing else! No added sugar, flavours or preservatives.
2017
New Brand Ambassador, an animated pouch
In 2017, Capri-Sonne is changed to Capri-Sun with our new brand ambassador. Follow us on social media to be up to date with his newest adventures.
2019
Capri-Sun & Bubbles
Capri-Sun & Bubbles is launched. A new sparkling drink in two tasty and refreshing flavours.
2021
Mix and Enjoy: Capri-Sun Dilutables
In 2021 we launched our first dilutables Squash in the UK in two delicious flavours. One year later, in 2022, Syrups are launched in five delicious and vitamin-rich flavours in five countries.
2021
6 billion pouches of Capri-Sun
Capri-Sun is consumed in more than 100 countries. Fans around the world enjoy 6 billion pouches of Capri-Sun a year!
2024
Same great taste, zero added sugar
Capri-Sun Zero added sugar is launched in the UK, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, offering the original Capri-Sun taste without added sugar.
